Hey guys,
If you guys know me in real life or having been following me for quite a while then you should know that I have a major girl crush on Mindy Kaling. She is an amazing actress, writer, entertainer, and person. She's a super inspiring girl boss and I really wanted her to be my first ever feature on my new series: #FunGirlBoss. In this new series I will be sharing inspiration from many women who have inspired me through their hustle as well as my own youtube/blog tips and tricks.
Now, between reading all three of her autobiographies, watching her show the Mindy Project every Tuesday on Hulu, and stalking her on all her social media platforms-- I like to think I know a thing or two about Mindy Kaling, but for today's post I just wanted to share three things that I have learned from her that have made me hustle harder and be a better #GirlBoss.

Everyone Has Insecurities
I feel like as human beings, we naturally believe that everyone else is completely happy while we struggle with own problems. Something Mindy delves into with all three of her books are her insecurities from friends, loneliness, slight geeky-ness, body image, etc.-- all things that I have had problems with in my life. She really showed me that not only do others have problems, but some of us of the exact same ones. This actually made me feel better because not only are these usually relatively simple problems, but it showed me that you can get over them with also simple solutions.
Mindy sharing her insecurities also showed me that in this business (whether It be blogging, vlogging, acting, writing-- anything where you are really putting yourself out there) it is okay not to be perfect. In fact it is better to show your insecurities and flaws to make you more relatable and real.

Being Average is Okay
Something else that I like about Mindy is that she is not photo-shopped. She doesn't feel pressured to be a unattainable size that even most models in the magazines don't have. She is the average height and weight for an American female and that is completely okay. I know that even women and girls who are not in the business feel pressured to live up to this beauty standard that is shown in the media that in fact only 5% of women in America have naturally.
Mindy is so unapologetically herself and that really inspires me to do the same in everything I do-- including the business. As long as you are healthy and happy, do not let the weight on the scale make you feel bad because it is just a number.

Laugh it off
The last but certainty not least lesson that has really stuck with me when it comes to Mindy is that fact that she has the uncanny ability to make fun of herself. She has such of way of not only laughing off the haters but really acknowledging her own mistakes and turning them into a joke at her own espense. That doesn't mean she has an iron skin. She has admitted to her readers that she has felt overwhelmed and hurt by what others say, but she thinks of the good of her life, gets up, and continues to tackle the world doing what she does best-- making jokes and laughing!
Mindy really taught me that you can't please everyone and should focus on the positive things in your life and not to let people tear you down especially while you are doing something that you love.
